Updated Blog Design
For quite a while this blog has looked the same. Sure, a tweak here or there, but not much has changed. It's been a two column layout and used the standard; at the time, 80 x 15 images for links to my other sites. With Movable Type 5 set to be released in about a week I thought it was time for a change.
The first change was the 80 x 15 icons which have now been replaced with shiny Web 2.0 icons. Check them out, follow the links, and friend me up!
The second change is the layout itself. I've shifted from a two column to a three column layout which can be seen here. This change was something I've wanted to do for a few years but not had the motivation to work on. It required a reworking of the CSS and images behind the site.
That is all for now, but with the proliferation of the iPhone and other web enabled mobile devices it's time I finally come up with a mobile site. That is something I'm looking at for early next year.

Nike+
Today was my first workout with my iPhone and Nike+. Pretty cool technology and extremely simple to use. Not as accurate as GPS models, but fairly accurate after calibration. I'm hoping this use of technology motivates me to get more active.

Beautiful Lies Twitter Contest

About a month and a half ago I won a contest @Amtrekker was having on Twitter. He had received a copy of Lisa Unger's Beautiful Lies novel from @DaisyWhitney and wanted to pass it on.
I finished the book this week and thought it was only right that we have another Twitter contest to give the book to someone else.
We agreed upon the following; come up with your best 5 word lie and email it to Lies at Amtrekker.com.
The three of use sent out tweets about it. @Amtrekker's, @DaisyWhitney's, and mine @GP2980. Daisy also posted an entry on her blog, The Book Chick, with comments being accepted for the contest.
The winner should be selected this weekend and the book mailed out next week.

I'm testing it with Movable Type and the interface is pretty slick. The suggestions happen automagically and then give you control over the content that is displayed in the blog post. So far the only thing I do not like is that links do not open in a new window and there is no way to do this without modifying the HTML.
