2002 MidAtlantic Bonsai Societies Spring Festival
Today was the 2002 spring festival of the MidAtlantic Bonsai Societies. There were about 10 vendors on hand; and of course, numerous bonsai trees on display. I wasn't sure if I was going to buy anything or just look around, but I ended up purchasing a tool set, aluminum wire, and a new tree.
The new tree is a San Jose Juniper in the informal upright style. It's currently wired and shaped nicely, which is a good thing since this is only my second tree and I'm still only a beginner.
If you or anyone you know is interested in bonsai, do not purchase a tree from the mall. There quality is poor it may not even be a bonsai. Try getting a tree from a nursery or a convention as I did with my new one. If you're not sure where to start looking, you can find some bonsai websites on my links page.
