A Daily Dose of Nothing

Yesterday I rented WSB 2K3 for the Xbox. I've also rented Triple Play 2002. As soon as I loaded 2K3 and began my first game I realized that it was better than Triple Play in every category, including graphics and game play. The pitching control and batting in 2K3 are very simple to learn, as is everything else in the game. The player animations are superb. In 2K3, the replays show the players bat making contact with the ball and the fielder scooping up the ball. This is something not seen anywhere in Triple Play. The announcing in 2K3 is also much better than Triple Play. Triple Play has Bob Costas, but even he can't make up for all the errors in the announcing. No matter how many homers you hit off a pitcher, it's always the first. If you do the home run derby, you get to hear the exact same phrases over and over again.

If you're looking for the best possible baseball game for the Xbox, look no further than World Series Baseball 2K3. Now that Sega has secured the ESPN license, look for 2K4 to be the best baseball game ever and Sega sports games to give Electronics Arts a run for their money.
