Eastern Conference Finals, Game 5
The Nets got out to a quick lead and were able to hold on for the 103 - 92 victory. They lead the series 3 - 2. When the first quarter ended the score was 31 - 16. New Jersey led at the half 55 - 38 and after the third, 72 - 59. Erick Strickland led Boston in the final quarter cutting New Jersey's lead to one. He didn't get any help from both Pierce and Walker who went scoreless in the 4th.
Jason Kidd needed just 3 more assists for his third triple-double in the series. He also missed out on his third in game 4 when he needed one more assist and one more rebound. He finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Kittles was the high scorer for the Nets with 21. Both Van Horn and Martin had 19. New Jersey bench was outscored 39 to 22, but the starting 5 for Jersey outscored Boston 81 to 53.
Game 6 is Friday at Boston. If a game 7 is necessary, the series is back to Jersey on Sunday.
