2002-03 NBA Regular Season, Game 1
The Nets defeated the Atlanta Hawks 105 to 94 in their season opener. Jason Kidd led the Nets with 16 points, 12 assists and 8 rebounds. Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson each had 15 points with Martin adding 11 rebounds. Kittles, Mutombo, and Harris each had 13. The Nets dominated the Hawks on rebounds (47-34), fast break points (27-12), and points in the paint (52-36).
Before the tip off, the Nets hung two banners in he rafters, one for winning the Atlantic Division and the other for being the Eastern Conference champions.
Game 2 is tomorrow, 7:30 PM, in New Jersey against the Indiana Pacers.
